These monopolies are legal and safe, but they are not your only option: internationally licensed operators (Kahnawake- and Curaçao-licensed) have served Canadian Rest-of-Canada players for years and are not prohibited for individual players. Alberta is the next province moving toward a regulated private market in 2026, following Ontario’s model.
