Who We Are

Best Casinolist has been reviewing online casinos for Canadian players since 2008 — making us one of the longest-running independent casino review sites in the ROC market. We are not a casino operator, not a sportsbook, and not affiliated with any provincial gaming authority. We are an independent editorial publisher funded by affiliate partnerships, with full transparency about how that model works.

Our focus is Rest-of-Canada (ROC): British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and the territories. Ontario players have their own regulated iGaming market; we do not cover Ontario-licensed operators, and this site is not intended for Ontario residents.

This site is edited by Editor-in-Chief Claire Bennett, a Vancouver-based iGaming journalist with 18 years of experience reviewing Canadian online casinos. Claire is a member of the Gambling Portal Webmasters Association (GPWA) and has contributed to iGaming Business (iGB) and AffiliateInsider. Our Editorial Model

Best Casinolist earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with online casinos. When players sign up at a casino via links on this site, we may receive a share of the casino's revenue from that player over time. This model is the industry standard for independent casino review publishers.

We state this upfront because transparency is the foundation of editorial credibility. Here is what our affiliate relationships mean — and do not mean:

What it means: We receive a commission when a player we referred makes real-money deposits at a partner casino and plays over time. This is a RevShare model: we earn a percentage of net gaming revenue generated by referred players, not a flat fee per click.

What it does not mean: Commissions do not buy favourable reviews. A casino that pays a higher commission rate does not rank higher in our tables. Casinos that fail our review criteria — on licensing, payout reliability, or responsible gambling compliance — are refused listing regardless of commission offered. We have turned down partnerships based on this policy.

What We Cover

Best Casinolist covers online casino gambling in the Rest-of-Canada market:

  • Provinces covered: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the three territories
  • What we do not cover: Ontario. Since April 2022, Ontario has operated its own regulated iGaming framework under iGaming Ontario. We do not list, review, or link to Ontario-licensed operators. This is not a legal determination — it is a deliberate scope decision. Ontario players have access to a regulated domestic market; ROC players navigate a different landscape.
  • Operator types reviewed: Kahnawake Gaming Commission-licensed casinos, Malta Gaming Authority-licensed casinos, and Curaçao eGaming-licensed casinos that accept CAD and serve ROC players.
  • What we do not review: Social casinos, sweepstakes casinos, sportsbooks (standalone), skill-based gaming platforms, or any operator that fails our licensing threshold.

Our Standards

Every casino reviewed on Best Casinolist must meet these minimum standards before inclusion:

Licensing. Active licence from Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Malta Gaming Authority, or Curaçao eGaming. Licence status verified against the issuing registry, not just the operator's own claims.

Payout reliability. Withdrawal requests processed within documented timeframes. We test this personally — real money deposited, real withdrawals requested, actual times recorded.

Responsible gambling tools. Deposit limits, session limits, self-exclusion, and reality check tools must be present and accessible. Operators without these tools are excluded.

Canadian banking. The casino must accept at least one Canadian payment method (Interac, iDebit, or CAD-denominated account) without excessive fees.

Transparent ownership. Operator company and licence details must be publicly verifiable. Casinos operating under obfuscated ownership structures are not listed.
